Hi, my names Katharine, I live with my husband Ed, 2 daughters and a cat called Lucy and a dachshund called Susie. After facing the life-altering challenge of breast cancer, I found myself searching for a new sense of purpose and creativity. That journey led me to invest in an engraving machine — a small step that sparked a big transformation. From that moment, Grain and Sparkle was born: a small business dedicated to crafting personalised wooden gifts and meaningful jewellery that celebrate life, love, and resilience.
Every piece I create is infused with intention and care, inspired by the strength it took to rebuild and the joy of connecting with others through thoughtful design. Grain and Sparkle isn’t just a brand — it’s a reflection of my story, my healing, and my passion for turning raw materials into something beautiful and personal.
Our Engraved Gifts
Each piece is tailored with care, not mass-produced. Whether it’s a name, date, or message, our engravings feel intentional and meaningful. At Grain and Sparkle, every design begins with a spark of inspiration and is brought to life using the Xtool M1 software-led engraving machine. I create each design on my laptop, carefully refining every detail before feeding it into the laser, which engraves with stunning accuracy across a variety of materials including wood, metal, acrylic, and more.
This blend of digital design and hands-on artistry allows me to offer truly bespoke gifts — where technology meets heart, and every piece tells a story. Whether it’s a personalised keepsake or a symbolic piece of jewellery, my process ensures that each item is as unique as the person receiving it.
